Apologies plus Dean & Keeley

First of all, before I get to posting some beautiful maternity photos I should probably apologize for not keeping this blog up to date. I will (try to) never let it happen again. If anything it is just an indication of how busy and full life has been for me lately but it doesn't mean I don't love you! Now, onto the good stuff.

Last night was a great night to be me! My "job" involved going to the beach with a beautiful couple, Dean and Keeley and taking photos of Keeley's beautiful baby belly. It's fun to do a maternity shoot with a couple because not only do you see the love between mama and the baby inside of her but the connection between the whole family. It makes my part really easy when that's already there and all I have to do is capture it for posterity. Without further ado, here are a few faves:

Keeley & Dan, if these pictures are anything to judge by then your baby will be very loved and probably very good-looking. Can't wait to meet the little guy in 6 weeks!

Take to the Road.

It has been too long since I've updated!  I should be posting photos here regularly though so if you check back I promise you probably won't be disappointed.  Yesterday was the hottest day of the year so far! Before the temperature had gotten up too high I snapped a some profile photos for the very talented musician, Chelsea D.E. Johnson before she begins her tour of Vancouver Island.  Here is a little taste of what we came up with...

Maternity Photos

Hey photo fans...I am really going to try to get better at posting on this here blog as I have been doing a pitiful job of keeping it up to date. For something different I thought I would highlight a maternity photo shoot that I did recently for my makeup artist, Meghan. We did the photos about a week ago and she's due any day now. Here are my top picks:

This shoot is from a while back but I'm really proud of it and never got around to blogging about it. The Hair Garden Salon is a new eco-friendly salon in Victoria and owner and stylist, Jenn Davies, wanted to do a fun pin-up shoot to show that going green doesn't have to mean dreadlocks and scratchy clothes. I'm as big of a fan of retro pin-up glamour as anyone else out there so I was thrilled when Jenn decided she wanted to do a photoshoot in this style. I was so thrilled with the results.

The models were classic beauties, the makeup and hair were bang on and it was a beautiful sunny day. I had so much fun taking these photos and can't wait to do some more glam pin-up styles. If you would be interested in doing a pin-up style shoot like this let me know and I can work out special package deals that would include hair and makeup.

Jessica and Dallas

I took a break from the boudoir biz yesterday and had the absolute pleasure of being part of Jessica and Dallas's lovely wedding. This was a really fun day as Jess was a very relaxed bride and that seemed to (eventually) rub off on everyone involved. The wedding was held in beautiful Saxe Point Park and it was an amazing sunny September day. Highlights for me definitely focused around Jessica's beautiful niece Ava wearing a beautiful pink flower girl dress with wings, who spent most of the ceremony sprinkling roses on another baby's head. Throughout the reception the theme was consistent that Jessica and Dallas have an amazing connection and a language all their own. They get each other. They're always laughing and joking but you don't have to look very closely to see how much they care about each other. It comes out in Jessica thanking Dallas for coming back for a few extra wedding photos even after standing around in the sun for hours or in Dallas not smashing the cake into Jessica's face after she quietly pleaded with him not to. Jess and Dallas, thanks so much for sharing your day with me. I had an amazing time and I hope you love the photos. I was so excited to work on them I was up most of the night! But enough with the words-- here are my faves so far...

Charmaine

My latest shoot was with the classic beauty, Charmaine. Charmaine was such a trooper, making the trek all the way out to my place in Langford and fighting through the masses of fire ants to get some beautiful shots. Here are a few faves.

The right side of the tracks.

Ok we get it...

...you are Angelina Jolie Ava! You don't have to labour the point by looking so freaking hot!

The photoshoot got started a bit late as Ava was babysitting her adorable nephew. We got out to the beach at about 8 when the light was absolutely golden but we only had it for a short time. Walking around the beach with Ava, her beautiful hair and makeup, a button-up shirt and sweats was too funny. We would approach groups of guys who would be talking loudly and stop in the middle of their sentences as they saw us and then try to casually continue what they were saying after we had passed.

Once the light disappeared on us we needed to look for an indoor location so Ava decided to call one of the seniors she works with because she thought her attic would work well as a backdrop. The funniest part of this was that although this woman is generally lucid (Ava just sees her for companionship, to take her for walks etc.) she somehow misunderstood and thought Ava was moving and while we were doing the photoshoot she kept asking Ava "Do you need more sheets or blankets?" and "You can take down these pictures and bring in your own if you want." She also cleaned out a whole closet so Ava would have room for hanging her clothes. I didn't have any background on this so I was sort of under the impression that Ava might be doing overnights there but when we left Ava said she doesn't ever stay over so she isn't sure where that came from. It was so cute. This woman was just such a sweetheart. Alright, so back to Ava...she is such a beautiful woman inside and out and someone I've had the pleasure of becoming much better friends with over the past year and we just haven't seen each other less over the past few months so it was just great to hang out with her. Alright, enough of my jabbering...I know what y'all came for.

...and on to the indoor set.

The flowers are mocking us.

There are many more beautiful shots but that's all you get for now. Ava...Ava Ava Ava, you are a true beauty. Because what is on the outside is only amplified by who you are inside. You are intelligent, compassionate and strong and sometimes it just doesn't seem fair that you also get to be so hot on top of it all! You embody pin-up glamour in these photos and I hope you are as happy with these photos as I am!
